CIACC
The Channel Islands Arts Co-Ordinating Committee (CIACC) was formed in 1985 to bring together public promoters and schools from across the Channel Islands and to encourage shared programming between the Islands. Its creation followed the successful example of the Channel Islands Music Council (CIMC), formed in 1974.

The group exists to make available, to the public at large and within schools, a range of live theatre, dance and other art forms not otherwise available given the geographical position of the Channel Islands. The specific objectives of the group are as follows:
" To share information and knowledge about the performing arts between the Islands
" To work together to develop a programme of public and school performances and workshops
" To attempt to involve as many islands as possible in the shared programme
" To achieve cost savings, through co-operation, so as to maximise the individual resources of each of the participating bodies

Holding no central funding of its own, the CIACC operates as a co-ordinating body, negotiating fees for tours which are then divided between participating islands and organisations within them. Travel expenses are also shared in this way.

Meetings are held four times a year - mostly alternating between Jersey and Guernsey - and are the opportunity for reviewing the success of previous tours, the organisation of a programme of between six and ten tours per year and the discussion of potential tours.

The administrative support for the group is provided by the Jersey Arts Centre with the organisation of tours undertaken largely from Jersey. Some schools-orientated tours are coordinated through The States of Guernsey Education Council and public performances through The Arts Council of Guernsey.

There were challenges faced by the Committee throughout 2003 in that venue availability prevented some of the tours visiting all of the Islands and other tours not being able to be progressed. However, five tours were programmed and co-ordinated with perhaps the visit by and S.S. Fitzcoraldo - Walk the Plank - with 6 public performances scheduled in Jersey and two for schools being our highlight.
