Co-operative finds a new use for an old court JERSEY co-operative Community Savings & Credit Ltd organised a festive function last week for supporters, volunteers and friends. St Helier’s Town Hall was a particularly appropriate venue as the Community Savings office, which used to be in Conway Street, is now on the ground floor, in the area which used to be used for the Magistrate’s Court. Chairman Brian Curtis said that they were particularly grateful to the Constable, Simon Crowcroft. ‘We no lon-ger have to meet those of our customers who find it difficult to get around at the bottom of the stairs, or even on the street. Nor do we have to use the top of a filing cabinet as a desk,’ he said. Community Savings and Credit is a self-help savings and loans co-operative, on the lines of credit unions, which encourages members to save regularly and provides low interest rate loans and free financial advice.
