Civil Service Forum staff side chairman John Noel's letter accusing the minister of 'bullying' staff and using them as 'political footballs' has been forwarded to the Privileges and Procedures Committee by Deputy Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur.
Yesterday, Senator Syvret denied bullying civil servants, saying that he was asking tough questions about failing standards in child protection and that officers were just closing ranks in the face of legitimate criticism.
Senator Le Sueur said that because several members of the committee were away from the Island on holiday they were unlikely to deal with the complaint soon, and responded to the letter supporting their criticism of the Health Minister.
In his response to the letter, Senator Le Sueur wrote: 'You and your members should be assured that the Chief Minister and I have full confidence in our staff and that we intend to do what is necessary to protect them against this type of unacceptable behaviour and unmerited attack.'
