Employee relations head Mick Pinel says that the suggestions made by the British Association of Social Workers that childcare policies breach human rights commitments have been investigated by senior Education Department staff.
And he added that an unnamed former social worker who is pursuing an unfair dismissal claim against the States was warned several times that his performance was unsatisfactory. He had also made a 'bullying and harassment' complaint that was investigated and rejected by the States human resources department.
The complaints followed recent controversy over child protection standards raised by Health Minister Stuart Syvret.
The allegations by the BASW covered Education Department policies covering children in States care, and the former social workers' claims of being bullied and harassed.
