TEMPS PASSÉ
Temps Passé in Jersey everything was as it should be - Islanders lived close to the land, families were large and poor, but happy, and children knew their place.
Of course, it wasn't really like that and the glimpses of Jersey as it used to be in Times Past, published daily in the Jersey Evening Post and in the Jersey Weekly Post, give us a privileged glimpse into Island life in years gone by.
The information we publish on the Features Desk comes from our archives and also from you, our reader. Many Islanders are researching their family tree, are intrigued by an unidentified picture they've turned up in the attic or found under a carpet or are, perhaps, captured by a view of Jersey that is today completely changed - or unchanged.
Readers write in with information to share and we want to hear from you...and remember, Temps Passé is getting nearer all the time. What we are looking for is not just pictures from 100 years ago but from the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties, in fact anything that you think readers might like to see.

......timelines...... |
As early as 1823 a steam-powered vessel visited Jersey, but the Age of Steam really began with the advent of iron hulls and screw propulsion in the 1840s. |
