Getting a passport in Jersey

The Passport Office in Jersey issues British passports.

To get one, you must prove that you are British and entitled to hold a British passport and must show proof of identity.
The first is proved by showing your existing passport or a birth certificate. If you were born outside the UK and/or after 31 December 1982, you must show evidence of your parents' nationality.
To prove identity, present an existing passport or a counter signatory (a professional person who has known you for two years or more).
UK nationals living in the island can obtain a new passport from the Passport Office in Jersey or they can apply to the UK Passport Service. You don't need to go to the Passport Office to apply for a passport. Application forms are available from most post offices and can be made by post.
The Jersey Passport Office asks for three weeks notice to process passport applications and during the summer months, it can take up to three weeks. In winter, the applications are processed within five working days. An express service will guarantee a passport within 48 hours.
Generally, it is quicker to obtain a passport in Jersey than in the UK.
Children no longer are included on their parents' British passports. The Passport Office frequently issues passports for babies who are only a few weeks old. However, children who already are named in their parents' passports may travel with their parents on those passports until they reach the age of 16.

Fees
Contact the passport office if you have any enquiries regarding fees for the following:
- an adult passport for Jersey or UK nationals

- amending your passport
- if you are looking to process your passport quicker
