World-class waitress heads for Japan

By Jo Hutchison

A WAITRESS working at Hotel L'Horizon is going to Japan to compete in the world food service championships.

Sandra Kohler (22), from Balderschwang, on the border of Austria and Germany, has worked at the four-star hotel since May and will work in Jersey until the end of September.

In November she will be competing for Germany in the restaurant service category in WorldSkills, formerly known as the Skills Olympics.

WorldSkills, which has been going for half a century and runs every two years, attracts around 850 young people from around the world.

They are accompanied by their teachers and trainers and go to compete before the public in the skills of their various trades which for Sandra will be waitressing.

They represent the best of their peers drawn from regional and national skill competitions held currently in over 45 countries and regions.
