Dental and Optical Care Schemes
The Employment and Social Security Department currently runs two schemes to assist with the cost of dental and optical care.
The Jersey 65+ Health Plan
This plan is designed to assist Jersey residents who are over 65 years of age. Amongst other criteria, you must have been resident in Jersey for a continuous period of five years and your capital assets must be less than £15,000 for a single person and £30,000 for a couple. If you qualify, you may receive a range of benefits, including a financial subsidy towards new prescriptions, chiropody treatments, eye tests, dental check-ups, treatments and dentures.
The Jersey Dental Fitness Scheme
This scheme was developed to assist young people between the age of 11 and 18. It can also benefit students up to the age of 21, if they are in full time education. If you meet the criteria, you could receive a financial subsidy to help you pay a set monthly fee to your dentist.
