I TOO had a bad night's sleep on 28 July when the dance event took place at Elizabeth Castle. But I for one, as a senior citizen, am pleased to hear that the young had the opportunity to enjoy themselves at this heritage site.
Okay, the bass sound was heavy and too loud - but so are the screaming sand races on the beach in St Aubin's Bay.
So too are the live music noises from the successful International Food Festival at the top of the waterfront car park.
I live on the top of the new Harbour Reach building, bordering the Elizabeth Marina. So I am the first in line for noise from any of these events.
I am resigned, and content to tolerate these noises while knowing where our youngsters are and having a rough idea of what they are up to. They're doing their thing in the midst of our society, and I regard this as a lot better than suppressing or relocating events to some remote place.
I have never met the organiser, Warren Le Sueur, but wish him well with his next Elizabeth Castle dance event application and look forward to seeing young people enjoying themselves in our midst, often perhaps with the unfortunate side-effects of noise.
